Elvia & Frank. I had photographed Amanda & Jason here a few months ago, and since Frank proposed to Elvia at the Griffith, they wanted their engagement photos done here as well.
I wanted to approach Griffith differently this time rather than duplicate the same poses and spots that were done for Amanda & Jason. Elvia & Frank were so relaxed that they just enjoyed strolling the Griffith's grounds. One of the perks to having friends for clients is they know who I am personally, so the way I move, talk, and navigate my way through challenges or situations won't be surprising. I also feel a great deal of trust from them to do what I think is best which really allows my creative juices to flow. I'm so thankful!!
So a bit recap, I used my Canon 580EXII for many of these shots, because I wanted to really bring out the background and setting of Griffith. Only one lens was used during this entire shoot which was my beloved Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8. I LOVE this lens and I'm really glad I have it as part of my tele & zoom set. The Griffith is a place that is tucked away up in the hills of LA, and that day it was conveniently cloudy so the skies were gorgeous! I used one flash that was held in position by KSlub (thank you!!) to camera right or left opposite to the angle of natural light. I also had a mini soft box attached to the flash. I wanted a more matted and natural flash look to Elvia's & Frank's skin tone rather than a metallic kind of look that a bare flash sometimes gives. I probably am not using the right technical terms, but in any case I'm always learning. I'll get the terms right one day.
All in all I personally loved the feel the additional lighting gave, and I'm also happy to have captured the beautiful skies that day too.
Thanks Elvia & Frank for being so amazing and just down right stunning. :]
Remake of a famous Titanic Scene. Per their request.
Frank majored in Physics so his all time favorite historical figure is Einstein and is his self proclaimed best friend. Look who's a little jealous...
